Dandelion Owl in Clouds of Concrete

Image
In the backward forward I unravel, unfeather.   Destiny sits on my shoulder warning, “Use your voice to divide truth from the noise of what shouldn’t be heard. Earth spins on broken bones. Be the calm in the fire, balm for the wound.”   Today is what I’m given. Tomorrow is my hope.   I am one linked to the heartbeat of many. For every feather I’ve lost there’s a hundred forming new wings. I’m a dandelion owl trusting I can see change through clouds of concrete. ©Susie Clevenger 2022 Earthweal Re-Wilding

Am I My Savior

Image
Abandoned on the edge of the moon, the silent space where my prayers pace the eye of God begging for an audience, I wonder if it’s brave to hope for rescue or trust I can rebuild myself from the broken glass that carried me here.   ©Susie Clevenger 2021

Pouring Water Into a Pessimist

Image
Can I swim the desert where the sea died or does sand filled lungs fear drowning? Out where my echo coughs with grit tomorrow is an erasure wind condemned to whisk a footprint’s progression into the mirage of never begun. Hope is a doorway placed in the middle of empty to pour a glass half full. The why is known…The can be encouraged. I am a river of one hoping to become a flood filled with dreamers. ©Susie Clevenger 2020 The Sunday Muse #92 Poets and Storytellers United ~ Writer's Pantry #4

Unitatis Trium

Ladder Against the Sun

Image
Image Source ~ Alastair Magnaldo There are many things I’ll never have in this circus of the sun. Days add and subtract, glow bright even in the sweater gray of grief. Not every ladder climb reaches a dream, but those that do imprint the spirit and keeps my heart reaching toward hope. Life is a high wire walk through light and darkness. I know I can make it if I carry at least one pocketful of sun. ©Susie Clevenger 2019 The Sunday Muse #75
