The Sound of Ink

She sits on my shoulder,  a feathered sage whispering to my dreams about a tomorrow I can’t see and doors yet to be open. With the gentle touch of my hair resting against her owl feathers I feel the caress of angels who  watch from Capricorn’s moon, and loneliness feels less empty. Outside my window trees write their wind stories across the glass. Without a sound the owl stirs  the silence with its wings. Within me the knowing forms, it is time for her to leave to write her own page in the journal of midnight. ©Susie Clevenger 2024  

  Night burns its lamp moon across my skin where light seeks a vein.   High on twilight I roam shadows until monsters no longer dance in my head.   In the tree above me I hear a nightingale sing its heart into the wind.   Companions of melancholy we watch stars climb closer to the sun and wait for morning to erase our silhouettes.  ©Susie Clevenger 2021

Head On A Stem, 'noir' by Odilon Redon A fairy moon blooms among bones in Insolent’s garden of sticks and stones. Seeded to grow where wishes aren’t fed, she bonnets her dark side where anger is led. Daughter of sky and siren of sea she drinks light from a candle and brews impish tea.
