Dust Spew of Dragons

Image
I love dragon fields spewing August dust into rain barren clouds.   The anger of summer at the end of its rope is theater I understand.   Inevitable chokes with its curse, and the rib shredding of change doesn’t earn our applause.   Sisters of sun and steamed pudding moon we know Autumn will soon arrive to taunt us with winter. ©Susie Clevenger 2020 The Sunday Muse #121

Metamorphosis of Dying Leaves

Image
Tree limbs decorated with brown leaves write their ode to change on the moon in autumn’s calligraphy. Today and tomorrow sit on owl feathers waiting for midnight to slip one into history while the other gracefully relinquishes its crown of future. I feel the weight of inevitable lift from my spirit as I surrender to my own metamorphosis. The starlight song of ancestors plays as I write a new chorus. ©Susie Clevenger 2019 Poets United Midweek Motif ~ Change

Carmen Avis

In the prayer spaces of narrow I place seedlings of an open mind. Today is here in the green leaf paintbrush of sky, raven call, and soft wings of a butterfly. A child of earth, sibling of sky, I walk in the choir of voices singing protect. Change begins with small things, grows in the unity of hands. The “we” of community begins in the roots of I can. May I be strengthened by the notes of a birdsong, feathered poet of emergent peace. ©Susie Clevenger 2019 Blog4Peace One day...one theme...Peace

At Light's Caution

A spring evening, coffee black without moon, plays a chorus of frog and wind chime. A small solar light in the corner of the garden guides me to a chair, and winks its caution to remain silent. I take my seat and give thanks for its wisdom. ©Susie Clevenger 2019 Real Toads ~ Wordy Thursday
