Strawberry Wings

Image
I remember my mother taking my sisters and I to our neighbors farm to pick strawberries. It was supposed to be a chore, but it never felt that way. Sunshine, laughter, and popping as many strawberries in my mouth as in the pail was magical.
Sun deep in strawberries, lips tinted red, and a bucket begging berries, I turn a chore into summer playtime.
Memories gather on white puffy clouds where tomorrow can read them, and today is oblivious of tears on the horizon.
It is a butterfly moment of growing wings in giggles, and feeling freedom speak from the dirt between my toes. United with sky and earth I soar.

Oh, and I was super excited to make the gif. Little things. :)

Catty Honesty

I am not your pretty thing to dress in lace and ignorance.
The mirror in my eyes reflects what it sees.
If you don’t like the judgement, don’t provide the reason.

Sevenling: Dark Valentine

Image
She dreams of stones, smooth, black heart shapes skipping across the lake.
Love doesn’t turn pink just because Valentine’s are dyed rosy.
He should have opened her card.

Gypsy Sister of the Wind

Image
Giving up will not be my legacy, I will go to water when I thirst, not expect the river to be my servant.
I can bloom in gravel while spoiled roses demand constant care.
I’m a dandelion, gypsy sister of the wind.

Betting on Rolled Eyes

Image
"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter." e. e. cummings
Do you like crackers with your bananas? I do like a little cackle in my crazy so the happier the noise the less bitter the eye.
I once asked bread, “Do you get scared when I stare at you through the oven window?” My daughter’s reaction was priceless. The yeast lost its rise in the giggles, but betting on a set of rolled eyes was a winner.
I’ve been known to flaunt fashion. My junior year I wore a bright orange dress to prom and pranced among pastels in catwalk Halloween. My dress spoke louder than their hairspray.
My motto is: “Don’t take yourself too seriously because the mirror has memory, and never wear leggings to a buffet.
