Wild Ride of Palette and Brush

Image
The highway is a paintbrush and wide-open canvas. Talent doesn’t sit in the corner like a wall flower begging a dance…Creative likes the wind in its hair, wheels humming music through a landscape of star stunned palettes thirsting for revelation.   Do you think Dali, Frida, or Van Gogh had any F’cks to give about societal maps trying to plot their destinations?   I’d love to take a convertible ride with the three of them, slap conformity in the ass, and conjure daydreams from smoke rings storming the air.  ©Susie Clevenger 2020 The Sunday Muse #131

The Art of My Sanctuary

Image
The walls around me feel tighter against my spirit like blue jeans that no longer fit because I fed my feelings.   Anxiety flushes my skin forcing me to attempt to shake it off with pacing.   My erratic walk takes me to my library where brightly colored art greets me from every wall in the room.   I slowly turn letting my eyes feast on brush strokes, dancing images, fantasy figures sailing a paper moon sky.   My mood shifts with electric shocks of inspiration as I absorb the energy of hope, talent, vision, each artist poured into their paintbrushes.   The binding rope of dark emotions I carried into the room slips away, and I feel the creative strength of others lift me, encourage me today is the only door I need to open. ©Susie Clevenger 2020 Poets and Storytellers United ~ Writer's Pantry #26

Writing with a Paintbrush

At the Seashore by S. Anderson Winter grumbles its gray across the sky, but I dance in the sea spill of blue racing across the sand and summon July’s spirit to pinch my cheeks with summer. Beescape by P. D. Laine Concrete molds me into its city hum of traffic growl and chaotic motion. Outside my window honeybees find their Eden in a small plot of purple and gold daises. I press my hands to the glass to feel the irony. No Title by O. Bentor bird of paradise winged blooms perched on stems color’s flight pattern Fire & Ice by S.
